Food and Fallacies

Well,

This year  - of late - i have been seeing a lot of videos - on you-tube about health and nutrition - some of the noteworthy being - The science of becoming slim - bbc, the biology of weight loss - Hbo - documentaries etc and have started making slight changes in my diet .( good documentaries - enjoyed the BBC one specially - the HBO made me feel that there is no hope tho)

My first action was to start maintaining a diet journal - i always thought i ate healthy - as i didn't like soda, i didn't have ice-creams - i didn't do chocolates ( well save the ones my bro gave me - which i finished in demonic speed )--- uggh --- shudder --- but boy were they nice :-)
 .
Well i started the diet journal and then i realized that ..i was eating substantially more than my allotted calories ...some times it was 200 more and some time it was 500 more - nothing much ..but if you realize - daily and increase in the calories made me balloon - - and all the while i would keep blaming the medications that i was put on 15 years ago ( steroids for pcod) for all the fat.

Fallacies broken

The next fallacy that got broken - watching these videos -- was the source of the calories made a difference -. I always thought that simple maths and substitution was the key - so in place of lunch or snacks i would have a sugar drink ( coffee - was my poison ) and think it was OK - and now i realized that it was not so - everything that i ate - the amount , the source everything is important

NO FOOD to eat

On my trip to a super market and on a trip out i then did a sample experiment - i decided to find something "healthy to eat "- simple enough??? but boy was that trip an eye opener - i realized that there is nothing nutritional available to eat - despite willing to pay money - most of the stuff - is either fried or simply loaded with loads and loads of sugar .. even milk was loaded with sugar and so was curds( yogurt) :-( . So it is better to eat - local food - available on the road - like a plate of cut fruits , sugarcane juice, banana or the local sukha ( dry ) bhel ( a mixture of puffed rice with various condiments!!

And so the food quest continues -- and now a days i carry fruits , sticks of cucumber , carrot and baby tomatoes -- till i get suitable options ...

I bow down to the superior knowledge of the internet which always said carry healthy stuff to eat with you:-)

And so the saga continues
